asrar-e-mai-o-jam ba-kas raushan nist
asrār-e-mai-o-jām ba-kas raushan niist
iiñ raaz ba-har murda dile guftan niist
zāhid ba-ḳhudā ki az ḳhudā be-ḳhabarī
sar rishta-e-īñ ba-dast-e-har kaudan niist
To few are revealed the secrets of wine and the cup ;
They are not to be told to every dead heart.
O ascetic, by God, you know little about Him,
This idea is beyond the conception of the fool.
