KHabaram rasida imshab ki nigar KHwahi aamad
ḳhabaram rasīda imshab ki nigār ḳhvāhī aamad
sar-e-man fidā-e-rāh ki savār ḳhvāhī aamad
I have heard the news that my beloved will come tonight,
I would sacrifice my head in his way, he will be riding along.
hama āhuvān-e-sahrā sar-e-ḳhud nihāda bar-kaf
ba-ummīd-e-āñ ki roze ba-shikār ḳhvāhī aamad
Every gazelle in the desert lift its head, cupping it in its hands,
Hoping that one day the beloved arrive to hunt them.
kashishe ki ishq dārad na-guzārdat ba-dīñ-sāñ
ba-janāza gar na-yā.ī ba-mazār ḳhvāhī aamad
The attraction of love will not let you escape,
If you do not come to the funeral of your lover, you will surely visit his grave.
ba-labam rasīda jānam tū biyā ki zinda mānam
pas az aañ ki man na-mānam ba-che car ḳhvāhī aamad
My life is on my lips, come quickly so I may live again,
When I am no longer here (after my death) what will be the worth of your arrival?
ba-yak āmdan rubūdī dil-o-dīn-o-sabr-e-ḳhusrau
che shavad agar ba-dīñ-sāñ do-seh baar ḳhvāhī aamad
You have stolen Khusrau’s heart, peace and confidence.
If you came again twice or thrice, what would happen to him.
