mah-rue sarw-qadde sim-tan
māh-rūe sarv-qadde sīm-tan
aah az jānam rubūd ārām-e-tan
A cypress-statured, garden-envied beauty—
Alas, has stolen the soul from my body.
ātishīñ ruḳhsār-e-āñ rashk-e-chaman
sho.ala zad az husn-e-ḳhud dar jān-e-man
That flame-faced rival of the rose,
With his splendour, set fire within my heart.
pesh-e-sham-e-husn-e-ū parvāna vash
jān-e-man dārad shi.ār-e-shoḳhtan
Before the lamp of his beauty,
My soul burns like a moth in longing.
aañ ḳhumār ālūda chashm pur az sehr
gasht dīn-e-zāhidāñ rā rāh-zan
His drowsy, intoxicated eyes,
Have turned bandit for the faith of ascetics.
jān-e-ḳhud rā kun fidā 'ahmad-Husain'
bar jamāl-e-pāk-e-āñ rū-e-hasan
O Ahmad Husain, lay down your very soul,
As an offering upon that chaste and radiant grace.
mah-rue sarw-qadde sim-tan
aah az jaanam rubud aaram-e-tan
A cypress-statured, garden-envied beauty—
Alas, has stolen the soul from my body.
aatishin ruKHsar-e-an rashk-e-chaman
shoala zad az husn-e-KHud dar jaan-e-man
That flame-faced rival of the rose,
With his splendour, set fire within my heart.
pesh-e-sham-e-husn-e-u parwana wash
jaan-e-man darad shiar-e-shoKHtan
Before the lamp of his beauty,
My soul burns like a moth in longing.
aan KHumar aaluda chashm pur az sehr
gasht din-e-zahidan ra rah-zan
His drowsy, intoxicated eyes,
Have turned bandit for the faith of ascetics.
jaan-e-KHud ra kun fida 'ahmad-Husain'
bar jamal-e-pak-e-an ru-e-hasan
O Ahmad Husain, lay down your very soul,
As an offering upon that chaste and radiant grace.
